Fractional CTO · MSP Advisory · Atlanta, GA — Serving Clients Nationwide

Thirty years in IT. Sixteen spent earning every rung of the ladder.

I'm Brian D'Arcy, founder of BJD Advisory. I help growing businesses get senior technology leadership and MSPs get sharper operations — grounded in decades on the floor, not just in the boardroom.

Background

Advisory built on a career spent actually running the systems.

I started in IT in 1996, working across software development, systems administration, and networking — the generalist grounding that still shapes how I think about technology decisions today.

For 16 years, I worked my way up inside a single managed services provider — starting on the help desk and moving through Tier 2 and Tier 3 engineering, into IT leadership, and eventually to VP of IT Services. I've sat on both sides of nearly every conversation a client has with their IT provider or their internal team.

Along the way, I was also closely involved in the technical side of sales — helping translate what a client actually needed into the right solution, and learning to sell on the value and service being delivered rather than on whatever technology happened to sit behind it.

BJD Advisory is where that experience goes to work for you: as a fractional CTO, an advisor to MSP owners and leaders, or a hands-on consultant for general IT projects.

For Technology Vendors

Bringing a new tool to the MSP market?

One of my core responsibilities as part of leadership at the MSP was evaluating and vetting new products marketed to the industry. I'm open to working with vendors as a resource for hands-on product feedback and field testing.

Approach

How the work actually happens.

Hands-on, not theoretical

Every recommendation is informed by having done the job myself — from the help desk ticket queue to the executive report.

Plain-language communication

You get straight answers about what's working, what isn't, and what it will cost to fix — no jargon for its own sake.

Right-sized engagements

Some clients need a standing advisor. Others need one project done well. We scope to the actual need, not a package.

Vendor-neutral advice

Recommendations are based on what fits your business, not on referral relationships or reseller margins.

Sold on value, not tech stack

Years on the technical side of sales taught me to lead with the outcome and service you're actually getting — the technology underneath is how it gets delivered, not the pitch itself.
